Email Setup Guide for Apple Mail

Step one: Open up Apple Mail and click Mail, then Add Account.

Step two: Select Add Other Mail Account and then click on the Continue button.

Step three: Enter a name for the Mailbox, the email address and the email address password and then click on the Create button. And then click Next.

Step four: You can now choose to set up the mailbox with IMAP or POP. For more information about the two protocols check out this video. We recommend that you use POP.
Enter mail.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk as the Mail Server, the email address you are adding as the User Name and your email address password as the password.
Now click on the Next button.
Leave the Path Prefix blank.
Make sure the Port is set to 110 with the Use SSL option unticked.
Set the Authentication to Password.
Then click on the Next button.

Step five: Enter mail.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk as the SMTP Server
And use the email address you are adding and it's password for the User Name and Password.

Step six: Set the port to 25 and untick the box Use SSL. Leave the Authentication type as password and then click on the Create button.

Well that's it; You will see your mailbox added and will be able to start sending and receiving emails straight away.


1. Open Apple Mail and click on Mail and then on the Add Account... option.
2. Select Add Other Mail Account... and click on the Continue button.
3. Enter your name, the email address you wish to add and the email address password.
Once these details have been entered click on the Create button.
4. You will now see a message saying Account must be manually configured. This is meant to happen so click on the Next button.
Please note: You can now choose between using POP3 or IMAP. To find out more about these protocols check out this FAQ.

5. Choose whether to use IMAP or POP.
Enter mail.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk for POP.
Enter the username, which is the email address you are adding, and the email address password.
Now click on the Next button.
Please note: You may not see the next option during your set up, especially if you have added the email address in the past. Don't worry in most cases this will mean the settings are stored.
If you do need to make changes to the incoming port settings:
Click on Mail, then on Preferences. You can now select your account and click the advanced tab to amend the incoming port options.

6. Enter the port as 110 for POP. Unheck Use SSL and set the authentication type to Password. Once these options have been set click the Next button.
7. Enter mail.YOURDOMAIN.co.uk as the SMTP server.
The username is your email address and the password is your email address password.
Now click on the Create button.
Please note: You may not see the next option during your set up, especially if you have added the email address in the past. Don't worry in most cases this will mean the settings are stored.
If you do need to make changes to the outgoing port settings:
Click on Mail, then on Preferences. You can now select your account, click on the SMTP drop down list and click Edit SMTP Server List...from here you can amend the outgoing port options.
8. Enter the port as 25.
Unheck Use SSL and set the authentication type to Password.
Once these options have been set click the Next button.
9. That's it, you're now ready to start sending and receiving email straight away.
